Back to School Freebies!

Yes, It's THAT time again! My fellow techie has put together some freebies to help you get a head start on things, and to make your life a little easier. Remember, this is NOT cheating, as this is an example of transformative e-learning. What is that, you may ask? You see, there are two types of e-learning, or integrating technology into your curriculum:

  • Translational, in which students complete tasks digitally in the same way as they would on paper (e.g. a digitized worksheet, typing the definitions to given vocabulary words, filling out a digitized graphic organizer, or typing the answers to comprehension questions).
  • Transformational, in which students use software in order to enhance learning. These include study.com. Khan Academy, ChatGPT, and Virtual Reality. Additionally, something which students create digitally is also transformative, like Minecraft, e-books and videos.
OK, enough of the rambling and on to the good stuff.

1. HERE is the master template for the interactive notebook. After you make your copy you're free to dish it out to your students. Enjoy! Need it in Spanish? Click HERE.

2. Want to have your students do stop-motion animation in Google Slides? Watch this video to learn how.

3. Have your students create a fake Instagram page for a character in a story, a historical character, a scientist or mathematician. Have them create their own as a fun back-to-school activity, and have them post their Google Slide to a class slide. Have them volunteer to present their slide to the class for extra credit. Here is a step-by-step Google Slide presentation on how to do it. If you want to skip the tutorial, go to my modified template and send to your students. My high school students had lots of fun with this!

4. Here's a list of links for templates and other useful things. (sorry, it's not very pretty)
